Author's note: HC_bingo: forced to face fear. / longfic_Bingo: Zombie apocalypse. Pre-game, This starts in the middle of the drama CD 3, you can read translations here for context. I would highly recommend reading them anyways as it was an interesting look into what drove many events in this story to happen. Essentially I'd been working on this a while and this helped center the story.

I'd say it also counts as mildly canon divergence (only in a few scenes, though.) Other than that, it assumes the same precanon as in game.

Inspired by one part of Laurent's talks with his mother: "I spent my time trying to find you. You were such a perfectionist, you somehow managed to die without leaving a corpse. So I clung to the silly hope that maybe you had not died at all. For all I know, my "time travel" was all some ruse of yours. ...I wouldn't put it past you."

Via supports and Noire's glowing tile conversations, it shows that Noire has magical abilities seemingly no matter what her class is and has apparently even picked up the knack of hexes despite Tharja specifically not teaching her.
"I've learned a few hexes of my own, Mother. Want to take me on?" (train) for example.

Yes, technically Laurent does come in at level ten in his chapter canonically. But when you take into account that he had a really large headstart, I personally thought it'd make more sense for him to be a bit higher level. Or you can just assume he grew several levels by beating all the brigand reinforcements and hit a master seal practically in his first level like Laurent's I've had in the past, lol.

Laurent's specific backstory mentioned here is actually from Future Past, specifically the Ricken talks.

Janet's birthday comes right around the time Philomela escaped from the helljob. I intended to actually put it out around that time, but I fell down with an infection and it didn't come up until now...when Janet and Philomela are both having bad weeks. Also, I revised a lot of the earlier chapters.

Oh, and I never mentioned that the title comes from the Tori Amos song, did I? Whoops.

Before you judge my choices, I was drunk at almost every stage of writing this, including the editing. Actually, that probably doesn't help. I'm the most boring drunk ever. I once got drunk and then spent the entirety of the night organizing my pdf folder.

The worst alcohol-related choice I made while writing this was mixing Grape Koolaid with Coconut rum. I finished it, but top ten regrets right there.

The other 30% of writing was 4AM bad NaNoWriMo choices.

Wind betaed it, and now qualifies for sainthood for making sense of some of the latter parts.

Actually this has just been sitting in gdocs since about Thanksgiving,. The PSU on the PC blew.

Summary: A week long rainstorm and the Administrator's absence leaves a lull in the matches, Scout sick and Miss Pauling stuck with caring for him. Time spent together, a found keepsake a tattoo and the appearance of Scout's mother bring along more realizations than she knows what to do with.

From my RP partner: I think if Miss pauling found scout put in the cold rain I think she would scold him, take him in her house and wrap him up in a few blankets, and then scold him so more.

Instead of logging it, I wrote it like I do with almost all her asks, haha. About halfway through I stopped trying to figure out what Scout actually caught and just wrote sick scenes. Consider it a really hardcore sickness that only exists in the TF2 universe or something. I like to write illness hurt/comfort when I'm ill as well. It's comforting.
