Title: she waits
Day/Theme: Aug 31 / Tell me, beloved rarity / tell me, rare love / where are you now?
Series: Naruto
Character/Pairing: SakuSasu, implied NaruSaku.
Rating: PG
A/N: I vaguely think the idea came from reading the ship manifesto on them, oh so long ago.
She has waited her entire life for this moment, and it passes by her by with a dissonant fluidity which paints the night scene unreal, surreal colors and oh this must be but a dream.
But it is not a dream, is not something she can wake from, something woefully tangible and inescapable, it’s the sound of her hopes and heart being crushed underfoot.
“Stay,” she says. Stay for me, I will love you in ways that they cannot even imagine.
Or at least that’s the meaning of her words, something discernable between sobs and pleading words so reviled of her sex, gender. That is weakness, they say, to wear your heart on your sleeve where just anyone could break it.
He refuses. She can only watch him leave.
–
The world doesn’t stop when he leaves, there is no apocalypse, there is an uproar, yes, but her life remains the same except for that cut-out picture. Everywhere she goes she almost expects to see him, but then she remembers. She does not cry.
When Naruto comes back empty-handed, nearly in a casket, she did not cry.
And when she falls asleep, she dreams of memories and of him.
–
Everyone in the village loved him, it was no surprise that she did as well. It was expected even,
nearly every girl in her generation loved him.
Even though a field of flowers looks, and even smells the same, she insists that this – that she is different.
She walked beside him, fought beside him, forced herself to become stronger for him.
She knows what hidden words he mutters when he sleeps, she loves him and love conquers all, if it is true. One day he will learn to trust again and love her as well.
For she believes love does indeed conquer all, is willing to bet her life on it.
–
She does not cry.
But she looks back and finds a certain oddity.
She goes to Tsunade with determination in her eyes. “Make me your apprentice.” She asks in a way which is not demanding, yet not ready to give up. Ever.
Teach me how to heal myself, I’ve spent my life living for someone else. I want to heal him, but first I must heal myself.
She waits, she will wait her whole life if need be. But she refuses to be just roll over and let him go this time.
This time if he wants to leave and destroy everything she holds dear, he will have to go through her, over her body.

The way she waits... the description, the feelings, the emotions, the actions, ahh-- this shot expressed so much ♥
Favorite line: She waits, she will wait her whole life if need be. But she refuses to be just roll over and let him go this time.
I don't know, this line just, ahh-- described everything it seemed.
