Apr. 2nd, 2012 01:55 amStarted DA2, am up to Kirkwall in my Male!Hawke (warrior) to the point where Varric is a team member, and just getting to Kirkwall with female!Hawke (rogue). I'm playing M!Hawke with the good personality, and F!Hawke with the snarky personality.
-Varric is pretty funny. Dwarf dude, you're all right.
-Fem!Hawke is so pretty I'm actually distracted from the plot when I'm playing her route. Something about a place and a something? I'm going after Merrill for my fem!Hawke route. ALL THE FEMSLASH! ALL THE FEMSLASH! (I love Isabela, but man, I can't tie the girl down! She has a good thing going. Maybe I can sleep with her and still woo Merrill, though. IS THIS POSSIBLE?)
-I (as in F!Hawke) sleep with Flemeth if I could. And Aveline. Those are two really awesome women. I (as in me) would totally be f!Hawke's little wife. Seriously, whole time with F!H just going OOH SHE'S SO PRETTY, HEYYY BBBB ♥ It's a good thing I'm playing mostly with M!H first, because otherwise I would have no clue about the plot. SOMETHING ABOUT ZOMBIES, AND SOMETHING ELSE, AND OOH F!HAWKE, YOU'RE SO FINE, DO ME ♥
-IDEK what's up with this combat system. To be fair, I don't play PC WRPGS. For all my gaming history, I've been a console JRPGer, and I didn't even like Morrowind. After hearing everybody go OOH MORROWIND OOH I played it and like. I could not make heads or tails of this bizarre thing. What is this now? Where is my epic quest? I'm kind of not enjoying the parts where I search mindlessly for quests or the fact that I can't interact with a lot of people. But, I can't really tell if this is the fault of the game, or if I'm just being ticked off by WRPGs again. I hated that in Morrowind, and in that one game. Something night? Neverwinter Nights, was it? Baldur's Gate, actually! I couldn't talk to half the damn NPCS, and the ones I could were boring.
Mostly I'm like. CAN IT BE STORYTIME WHERE I GET TO FLIRT WITH PEOPLE YET?
I guess that would make DA2 ideal for absorbing experience via let's play, but I put the moolah in, so I'm going to get my damn femslashy goodness and M!Hawke/Anders.

Date: 2012-04-02 06:30 am (UTC)The combat system resembles FF12 more than anything, to me; I think once you get used to it your experience won't seem that bad? It was fun to find strategic was to smack enemies down once I got the hang of it. However, it's very different from every other JRPG. :/ I played a mage, and blasting things with fire is almost always more fun than hitting them with a sword in my book, so maybe I was just in love with the mage style of fighting. Y'know, when I wasn't DYING.
As for DA2's quests... I was annoyed at first because it seemed I was running around doing random shit, but it all ends up weaving into the main storyline nicely. I think a lot of DA2 is getting to know Kirkwall/the citizens so you'll have more of a stake in the story later on.
