A) My OTP | Greece/Japan, fullstop.

B) The runner up IDK, Greece/Japan is such high tier it's less being secondary than being somewhere around like, tenth or twentieth. That being said, it seems like despite me a awoving not to, I have minor interest in UK/Japan, America/Japan and Japan/Taiwan. The last is angelic_ink's fault. Whatever, I like a ton of stuff in Hetalia. Almost every time I dislike something at first, I grow to like it.

C) The anti-ship | IDK, China/Japan? China seemed the most brotherly of all the older brother figures, and Japan has never showed him much of anything but hostility. It wasn't even tsundereness, but outright meanness. Yes, he gets sad over Japan, but Japan literally stabbed him in the back. He was his younger brother and he doted on him and Japan grew up to cruelly attack him. Of course he's going to cry over that. I'm not too fond of Korea/Japan either, for similar reasons, or perhaps that Korea spends more time groping China's breasts.

D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character

quiet =/= boring. Still waters run deep.


E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why | China. For some reason, Japan never returned the love China gave him. I've never been able to get in the head of young!Japan. Well, when he was little he was just a brat, but when he stabbed China in the back he looked...weird and yandere.

I know why Japan historically had issues with China, but not why the character did. His younger days just seem such a 180 from how his personality later developed. Did China bring out the worst in him or something?

I've seen some really nice fanart with the two and they seem like they would have interesting dynamics too... then there's the actual "canon" pic with Taiwan demanding China to not bother Japan and yeah, it'd be interesting, I think!

Hmm.... I'll be honest, I like China/Japan now though I admit I also found it hard to see it possible, when I first got into the fandom. ^^'

but I liked how China seemed to care about tiny!Japan a lot even when Japan didn't really ask for it at all. I think (Hetalia's) China genuinely does like him because of that, anyway. Also, have you heard China's character song "Aiyaa, Four Thousand Years"? It's a very beautiful chara song and (imo) kinda obviously sounds like he's singing to Japan, based on those lyrics.
And then I think someone in the main comm mentioned it was brought up that it sounded like the background singing even sounded a bit like the words, "Wo Ai Ni" (Chinese for "I love you") and yeah I started shipping it a bit more I guess after hearing about that even if it was uncertain... XD;

Though it's still a bit hard to think of what Japan must think of China after the Black!Kiku strip, I admit. But, there were some parts that made me think maybe China will be able to forgive Japan and they'd get along again some day (well, in Hetalia canon anyway) - For one thing Japan said "forgive me" just before he attacked so it seemed like he at least felt some remorse about it? For another the fact that Russia of all charas consoled China by saying "but don't worry, you two will definitely get along well with each other again" helps me think maybe that's what Himaruya intends to happen sometime later in Hetalia so...! yeah. :D;

Well, you asked for it!

I'm not just being a crazy fangirl when I OTP Ike/Soren and generally dislike all Soren/other, Ike/other pairings. This is characterization talking.

Soren isn't really multishippable by his own doing. He personally sabotages any relationship that could start by saying that he's loyal to Ike. He does this to Stefan, Micaiah, Skrimir AND Pelleas, each citing specifically that he won't leave Ike's side. Despite many people offering him kindness in the Greil's Mercenaries and so on, the closest he ever comes is being civil to them when he's grown up a bit and is more comfortable with himself. He's had years and years to open up to other people, and Ike is the only person he takes that chance with.

He isn't the sort who secretly snuggles kittens and can be ~moved~ by the special actions of Ilyana/MarySue/other female. If so then he might've thawed a bit towards Oscar or Mist or Rhys, who have surely shown him kindness through the years and would never betray him.

The game is loose enough that you can interpret them as being asexual guy pals, but I view most Soren/other and Ike/other pairings as being not just OOC, but ignoring everything about the characters, often to force them to be some heterosexist norm. Thus, I react really badly to all the [insert Ike/other and Soren/other] pairings because it's just as offensive as trying to pair Heather up with guys. It ignores the fact that Ike is Soren's raison d'etre. Not money, not power or wealth, Ike. He's talented enough that he could easily move up and have his pick. By the end of Radiant Dawn, he could've easily taken a high spot in Gallia, Begnion, Daein or Crimea -- even the Serenes if he wanted. He chose Ike.

I know this makes me sound horribly wanky and opinionated, and usually I'd go YMMV on characterization things, but seriously, the game says so itself. Soren never shows interest in a single girl except Micaiah for about two seconds, and that's not romantic but "Hmm, another like me. /writes notes." then he promptly alludes to his loyalty to Ike. So yeah, asexual, romantic, whatever, but these two are downright co-dependent and I'm not sure they can survive without each other. Especially Soren without Ike, for that matter. But I'm sure Ike would probably like, insult a bunch of locals and have to fight them bare-handed or something without Ike there.

E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why | Ribs. he tried to love ribs the way Ike did, but alas, he still hates and only tolerates Ike's love for Ribs because it's more preferable than his love for certain green-haired princesses.

Ribs isn't a character, just ribs. XD The game said that Ike loved to eat meat and ate a lot, and mentioned that Soren didn't like eating so much. Somewhere along the line it turned into a joke that Soren was jealous of Ike's love for food. Ribs were just how the joke took form, until it became Ike having an almost Ilyana obsession with food (especially ribs, as that's such a manly food) while Soren looks on in jealousy and wished that Ike showed such enthusiasm for him.

In Japan it's usually a porkchop shown.

Soren tolerates Aimee when she's useful XD He might be a little more tolerant of her because he knows Ike can't stand her advances and thinks she's crazy, but that doesn't mean he doesn't keep an eye on her.

in that case it was less emotional codependency and more "without Soren's guidance, he's totally going to get kidnapped by Aimee/get poisoned while traveling/get cheated/price gouged while traveling/step into one of those pitfall things and then get kidnapped by Aimmee" and all that jazz.

Ike is hardly helpless, but Soren has a discerning eye. Remember, Ike was willing to go with Aimee's plan before Soren ran in and stopped him in that base scene.

Oh, Soren definitely helps him out a ton. But on Ike's side I feel that it resembles a clownfish's "dependency" on an anemone. "Oh man, those stingers sure are useful for staying alive. Thanks, anemone." "Co-dependent" and Ike really don't mesh in my head. The emotional inequity is something I like about that pairing.

She didn't just need a hug and she wasn't a complete monster, either. She had genuine moments of softness (though she'd flame your ass if you said it twice) and yet she was a sociopathic, manipulative wonder. It made her to be an amazing villain, though.
