I saw the movie for Stardust which influenced my reading. I found the book much more spare and not as safe and warm as the movie. I was also surprised how short it was!

I've haven't read Mirrormask yet, sadly. Coraline is freaky as shit. I also saw the movie for this one first (I have lost all bookworm cred in this conversation) but I'd say it does a great job conveying the same atmosphere. But they added a character who helps Coraline out. I preferred the book where she saved herself, but oh well.
