title: desire of an artist
series: hanakimi
january fifteenth / desire of the artist to express himself
character/pairing: Akiha, Umeda
Akiha used to sketch during every math period, dull history period, the teacher’s voice droning on into background noise. He was a passably good artist, yet there always seemed some difference between the picture in his mind and what appeared in smokey lines on his paper. Somehow, the anatomy always seemed off, no model could keep his attention long enough
He had found photography at a young age, taking family photos with disposable cameras. When those pictures, that part of his life was sealed away, so was his desire to take pictures.
Akiha found photography again during his first year of high school.
He had become the photographer for their small, yet outspoken school newspaper which was really just a glorified gossip column with a few school events thrown in for validity’s sake.
He raised the viewfinder, the decorations of the festival, committee still guiding the way, several members straightening decorations, giving directions. Through the viewfinder he saw someone, an older student, slim body, brown hair, a normal person at first glance, and yet, one that held his gaze in a sort of rapt fascination.
Akiha clicked the shutter, capturing the moment, the boy on film for further study, far more than the article called for, most of which would never even find their way to the newpaper but instead to a shoebox under his bed where so many other things, other pictures would eventually find as their final resting place.
It only took one photo for the pieces to slide into place.
