Title: New Dress
Series: FEH
Character/pairing: Lyn/Florina
Rating: PG
Word count: 463
Summary: Why would Florina choose the garb of Hel? Her reasons are many.
Author's note:
As I was finishing up Icestones, I remembered that R!Florina mentions that Lyn likes her outfit. So I had to make a matching set, if you will.
It's part two of Icestone, and also for SaraJaye.
Everyone assumed she would choose the garb of Nifl. After all, it reminded her of her homeland, to the point where it was practically beloved to her. Whenever there was a chance at a job within that land for the Order of Heroes, Florina would be one of the first ones chosen. For she and her sisters were hardy when it came to cold weather.
Nifl was what Lyn had chosen, and how lovely she wore those clothes.
But, it was the garb of Hel she chose. A black dress with the shape of a glowing skeleton over her chest.
Why? It was difficult to explain, at first.
But the truth was, she chose it because it reminded her of so many times on the battlefield she'd barely missed death's scythe. When an archer broke through their forces and cut through Huey's wings, and she and her pegasus had fallen to the ground, nearly felled. It was only that Lucius was close enough to heal her that she had lived at all.
The time she had crawled out of her bed when she was little to look at the stars and went out into the cold, and her terrified sisters had to find her. WHen her limbs had frozen and her teeth chattered and they had to wrap her up in blankets.
It reminded her every day that she faced down death to keep Lyn safe, and stay by her side.
Hel had almost come for her many times. But she was still alive, be it on the plains, the north, or the lands of Askr. And she was still with Lyn, too.

"Turn around, let me see," Lyn said.
Florina turned around until the skirts spun. She looked back, not quite shy, but adoring at the woman who was both her friend and lover, and had been for many years.
Lyn smiled as she took in her new dress.
"D-Do you like it?" Florina said.
"It fits you," Lyn said.
"You don't think I should've chosen Nifl?" Florina said worriedly.
"I think you made the right choice. Though, you know I would've supported you whatever it was."
Lyn always understood intrinsically what Florina needed, without ever saying a word.
"Oh, Lyn! I do so love you!"
Lyn all but threw herself into Lyn's arm as Lyn laughed and pulled her close.
"What was that for?"
"It's just true, and always has been true," Florina said.
