Title: Prismatic
Series: Stardew Valley
Character/pairing: Emily/Sandy
Rating: PG at very most. Very tame
Summary: Sandy surprises Emily with a gift, just because.
Word count: 1300
Author's note:
I named this female farmer Jill, after the old HM series female farmer.
I have no preference to who Farmer Jill is married to, except that it's not Emily. I just thought it would be a nice touch if she also had a wife. HC whoever you want it to be, as all women are queens.
treat for Femslashex.
Top secret: Could you do something for me? I want to surprise my girlfriend with a gift.
Please bring me one Prismatic Shard ASAP. I'll make it worth your while. I promise.
-Sandy.
She mailed out her letter and hoped that Emily didn't have psychic visions of impending gifts. It was so difficult to surprise her girlfriend when there were premonitions and lucid dreams to worry about. And that was if the birds didn't tattle on her.
To say nothing of crystal-induced insights and just plain lucky guesses. If Emily ever played the lottery, they'd probably be massively wealthy. But, Emily liked her simple life and only used her powers for fashion and occasionally accidentally figuring out surprise birthday parties. ( Though that was partly because Haley was horrible at keeping secrets.)
*
Sandy perked up when she saw Jill come in. It'd been less than a week, and she knew Prismatic Shards were awful hard to come by. The farmer had her brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, and was slightly flushed. The trip had left her more than a little dusty and bruised. But, she'd come back, and dang quick, too.
"Oh, you didn't get a sunburn, did you?"
"My hat just fell off a bit," Jill said.
"Hey! You got my letter, thanks."
"I've got more than that," Jill said.
Jill pulled out the glittering rainbow stone from her bag. And quite a big specimen, too. Sandy had never even seen one up close.
If Sandy had more time, and was actually that strong, she'd go hunting for stones herself. Emily would love them as gifts, even plain raw quartz. But, as a shopkeeper, she knew how to get supplies.
Man, Emily would love this.
"Wow, you did such a great job. You deserve a reward."
She grabbed out a big wad of cash, like promised.
"You know what? You did such a great job, I'll throw in some extra. You're my best client, anyways."
She grabbed a few handfuls of seed packets to go with it.
"Tell your wife I said hi," Sandy said.
"I will," Jill said.
Jill waved one last time and ran off. Whether it was to the mines again, or back to the bus so she could go see her wife again, Sandy didn't know.
*
Emily came off the bus with her hands full of freshly picked Sweet Peas. The desert heat became even more insufferable in the summer, but Emily faced it well. Knowing her girlfriend, she wouldn't be surprised if Emily spent the whole drive meditating.
"Sandy, you can't stop smiling!"
"Of course I can't, silly. You're here."
"Oh, they're beautiful." Sandy bent down to breathe in the scent of the flowers from the valley. "Thank you so much for thinking of me."
"I think of you whenever I see flowers," Emily said. "And many other times. So much reminds me of you... I wish we could meet more outside of the astral plane."
Back before Emily, Sandy probably would've laughed off any mentions of meeting in the astral plane. Until her girlfriend proved that true by appearing in her dreams over and over.
Emily had such creative ways of bridging the distance.
Even when she lived here and Emily lived there. Still, Emily managed to visit for every birthday and many other times, too. Whenever she had a free moment she'd pop by, even if the bus ride was long.
"Well, the truth is, I did get you something. To be more precise, I commissioned someone to get this for you. I'm not exactly a seasoned fighter."
Sandy pulled out the gift. The Prismatic Shard shimmered in the desert sun.
The look on Emily's face was completely worth every cent she'd spent.
"A Prismatic Shard? They're so rare! I've never even seen this outside of the museum after farmer Jill donated one. And they won't let me touch it there."
Of course Emily could be found near the museum, telling truths about old antiques and gems. Nothing drew her girlfriend in like the promise of beautiful, glittering gems.
Sometimes, Sandy considered about maybe selling some gems too, just for Emily. Except, it'd probably turn into a Emily-gift-giving enterprise, and both their houses would be completely filled with gem stones.
Which would probably suit Emily just fine, though Haley might not be too thrilled.
Emily reached out and held the Prismatic Shard in her hands.
"This has amazing vibrations coming from it. I am sure it will help me in my meditation greatly."
Emily's fingers closed about the jewel.
"Was it Jill? I sensed that she had something planned. But, I also sensed that I must keep it a secret for both our sakes."
Leave Emily to sniff out any secret. But, at least she'd sensed that she needed to keep this a secret.
"Yup! I asked her personally instead of asking on the bulletin board."
"Hmm.... Did I forget an important date?" Emily said.
Emily placed the Prismatic shard in her lap, and tapped her lips as she thought. It was really distracting. Because as Sandy knew, Emily had really kissable lips.
"My birthday is on Spring 27, and yours is on Fall 15th, so I know I didn't forget either of those. Hmm... The day we first met was on the third day of Summer. You smiled at me, and I had a premonition that we were fated to be eternal friends and more. That the entire universe had conspired for us to meet and love each other. The day we first kissed was in Fall and the leaves were so beautiful...one caught in your hair and I brushed it out. We laughed and you leaned in and kissed me. It was Winter the first time we went on that camping trip--"
Sandy blushed. "Hey, now. The guy inside might hear."
Emily laughed. "Ooops. That's a secret. Was there another secret date that I forgot? I thought I had memorized them all the way down to my soul. Sometimes when I meditate, I focus on our lips meeting so it will surely happen soon."
"Nah, this is just because, that's all. I knew you would like it," Sandy said.
Emily blushed. "You must've spent so much on this."
"You're worth it. Every single penny. I wish I'd gotten a picture of your face when I pulled that thing out. I'll just have to remember it."
"Then remember it well," Emily said.
Emily cupped Sandy's cheeks and kissed her. Kissing Emily was like bliss every single time.
*
That night, Sandy dreamt.
Parrots of all colors filled the sky like a rainbow. She floated on clouds made of sugar and stardrops. Emily floated too, goddess like in this world of dreams. She was surrounded by a rainbow aura of power.
Emily's voice echoed through the realm of dreams they both inhabited in that moment.
"This Prismatic Shard is so powerful, I'll be able to visit you every night in your dreams. We'll share the same dreams, and it will be like we could hold hands and kiss through time and space. Isn't it wonderful?"
Emily laughed, and it was so melodic, so beautiful.
"Who knows...with this kind of power, I might be able to even nap during the day and lucid dream my way to visit you even more. I could pop across the miles and give you a kiss, and be near you again. At least in spirit, if not in body."
Emily reached out through time and space and kissed her. The parrots flew above them, and around them in brilliant colors.
Sandy had to admit, she was tempted to ask farmer Jill for another commission, even if she'd be eating nothing but wild coconut water and cacti for months, it'd be so worth it.
Author's note:
Writing this was such a #mood. So much was just me going "me too, Emily" while writing next to my mountain of rose quartz and daydreaming about going to the stone stores again...
