Title: king of hearts
Day/Theme: May 23th / sooner or later he brings up the Templars
Series: Tenipuri
Character/Pairing: Tezuka/Fuji
Rating: G
A/N: but I am leeee tiiiiiired! (i.e. not betaed. Tired. v. unsleep)
Often they would play like this, after work. To unwind, Fuji will often relate the happenings of the day while Tezuka shuffles the cards, telling each dalliance and occurrence, each anecdote to pass the time. Fuji always enjoys this chance to make Tezuka his captive audience– but when it is his turn to shuffle the cards, Fuji will listen and bait Tezuka into opening up.
Sometimes they play blackjack or poker. (Fuji often brings bets to the table, and on more than one occasion Tezuka has found them both stripped down to boxers, Fuji grinning triumphantly at him.) Like many things Tezuka keeps Fuji on his toes while playing – especially as nobody can pull off a poker face like Tezuka.
And sometimes, even, Fuji will play solitaire, and sometimes Tezuka will watch, pointing each move which Fuji might miss.
Tonight it ended at an impasse. Tezuka reached to shuffle the cards again.
“When it starts you might have a good hand, everything is going perfectly but one thing catches and puts it at a stand still – But then you start over.” Fuji muses.
After every fight Fuji will bring him the deck. “Shuffle it” he’ll say. I want to start over
And Tezuka will, eyes closed his hands moving fast yet steady over the thick paper of the cards.
Then again, the game was never about winning or losing, those were only stops along the way.

Date: 2006-05-21 08:22 pm (UTC)Somehow it's difficult to imagine them playing cards but somehow it fiits so well. The way you used the deck and playing both as a concrete thing and parallel was very nice. ♥
I loved this sentence because it's so true:
"Then again, the game was never about winning or losing, those were only stops along the way." ♥

Date: 2006-05-21 08:52 pm (UTC)Well, they did in the anime camping trip, and I think Tezuka really beat everyone quite badly. Must be his unbeatable poker face XDD
Actually I was just playing solitaire and the phrase that Fuji says came to me XD I had to write it ~

Date: 2006-05-21 08:59 pm (UTC)I totally forgot the train and playing cards there. Even though I've once considered that as a canon evidence of zukafuji...
as you know, i'm a very rapid fangirl, but perhaps I'm starting to failI really don't remember my reasoning anymore, but...no subject
Date: 2006-05-21 09:07 pm (UTC)You're probably going more manga in thinking, it's more "sane" and tends to be more coherent ~ :D

Date: 2006-05-21 09:37 pm (UTC)The walk in the snow is so very confusing, because I can't understand why anybody would ever use umbrella because of snow. Rain would have been more believable... XD

Date: 2006-05-22 06:24 am (UTC)(Well, it's a subtle couple, not blatant and fluffy like Shishido/Ohtori or Oishi/Eiji -- but it's obvious Fuji has an interest in him if only from the fact that he seems to know more about him than Ryuuzaki, Inui and Oishi combined. )
I think it was symbolic? Two people under the umbrella is a sign of lovers in Japan :3
