Title: revenge is a dish best served cold
Day/Theme: May 9 th / Watch your chance and hit him with a brick
Series: XXXholic
Character/Pairing: Watanuki, Doumeki
Rating: PG
A/N: Some vague spoilers here and there um, likely up to volume seven at least. Sukiyaki is a thinly sliced beef and vegetables cooked in a special sauce made of soy sauce, dashi, sugar, and sake. Participants cook at the table then dip food into their individual bowls of raw egg before eating it. Kakitori is shaved ice with syrup topping. (thank you wikipedia!)
What laid, I said,
My being waste?
‘Twas your sweet flesh
With it’s sweet taste
From “Rhyme” by Louise Borgan
Last summer, they met.
Since then numerous scars have popped up on Doumeki’s body, burns from being drafted to kitchen duties (“SUKIYAKI? And how am I to make it without the ingredients?!”)
His arm has been broken – twice, his soul has been forcefully taken from his body, his fingers are blistered from stringing and re-stringing his bow because Watanuki is worse than any princess or damsel in distress could ever dream of being, and all the dragons and evil spirits seem to have a homing device set straight for him.
(mentally he has started calling him Watanuki-hime, something he hasn’t voiced because he enjoys his daily bento and living, for that matter.)
He’s been stabbed, kicked, bruised in nearly every viable place. He’s waited in the rain for hours, knee deep in mud with the scent of lilacs and the feel of rain unheeded as his hands grew almost immobile from cold, until his hands interscected with Watanuki’s own smaller, paler , (even somewhat feminine) hand.
And somehow, it’s all worth it.
(“And desert too. I want Kakigori.”
“Kakigori too?! I HOPE YOUR TONGUE GETS FROSTBITE AND SHRIVELS UP AND FALLS OUT!”)

Date: 2006-05-10 07:39 am (UTC)^_______^ Loved that line especially. Exactly the sort of thing I can imagine Doumeki doing.
Just two small edits:
"Watanuki is worse than any princess or damsel in distress could ever dream of" - I think you're missing a 'he' before the 'could.'
"interscected" - intersected?

Date: 2006-05-13 09:39 am (UTC)I actually was referring to the Princesses, they'd never get captured by as many dragons, I clarifyed it a bit.
would "grasped" or "touched" be a better word choice?
