Completely off-topic, but I love Watari and his gay leather pants ♥ I go ":DDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!" Everytime he appears in the manga.
Hey!
ssj10 I know you don't like Tatsumi/Watari *sniffle*, but for a crackier notion, what about Watari+Kio? Thoughts? They'd be the gayest pairing ever.
And looks like I'll be trying out for tin's Mile-long pole challenge. I never realized how many fandoms I'd written for until I tried to find one that I'd not done before *laughs* (uh, at the moment it's Saiyuki, Death Note, D.Greyman, One Piece, Sex Pistols unless I miraculously get some of the manga I've been pining for.)
Title: just a million miles from here
Day/Theme: Feb 6 / the lady that found the moon
Series: TRC
Character/Pairing: Kurogane, Tomoyo.
Rating: G
Inspired by Japanese folklore. (“The Robe of Feathers” See here)
Uh, spoilers?
–
The moon rises slowly, languid and unhurried, rising further into the night sky flecked with stars fanned out like a painter’s splatter, filled with galaxies and constellations she can name from memory.
She spends time with her retinue, staring at the cloudless sky. Reading the world from each movement, her fingers clasped around a small, metallic telescope.
“It will rain tomorrow” she says with perfect certainty.
There is not even a hint in the wind yet, there is no outward suggestion, but her predictions always ring true. Of course it will rain tomorrow, even if for only an hour before sunrise.
Dipping into her silver bowl, she speaks of wisdom, spreads out fate like tapestries, intricate and tautly woven. She sounds dreamy and surreal to him, her skin pale and lit by moonlight and firelight, the torches around the castle and the waxpaper lanterns strewn through each window.
Kurogane has lived by the sword, refuses to obey anyone who is not at least his level of strength. And he clenches his teeth as he falls to her ingenuity. She laughs, and tells him to hurry on back, it’s getting dark.
Later on he will remember this night as the moon wanes in some far off country, it will remind him of feather robes, of the ceremonial dances she would do, fans spread out to the sky and her laughter.
He remembers her hands spread out to him, and taking them. The first nights in the castle and adjusting to his new home. He remembers the faint light of moonlight over the steps, closing the curtains and falling into the depth of slumber.
He remembers the gentle sound of her breathing, inhale, exhale and knowing that this was his purpose, and he smiles.
I fail at TRC!Fic as per usual.
I actually see Kurogane & Tomoyo's interaction as more gen, after all a Samurai's loyalty to his Damiyo is absolute, and she saved him. She became his whole purpose, she gave him a reason to keep living when he lost everything. Of course he lives to serve her. (wait, is Kurogane a samurai or a ninja? He *acts* like a Samurai and looks like a ninja so perhaps he's some odd combination of both? WTF CLAMP?)
Meaningful? Yes. Romantic? Take it as you will, I see something deeper than just mere romance. That's my thoughts,
However KuroFai really isn't romantic at the moment -- Fai loves to tease Kurogane, yes, and Kurogane senses there's a lot more to Fai and they have a sort of bond in the way they talk at times, but at the moment they're just barely friends, any romance would have to be drawn out and probably take years for them both to release enough to truly trust each other.
I predict the end of TRC will be ambiguious, except for Syaoran & Sakura. CLAMP will be EVIL EVIL EVIL and likely tease the fangirls with ghei without ever making them canon -- (though there's the possibility of Fai hitching a ride to Kurogane's homeworld since he really doesn't want to go home) On a HOLiC note, Watanuki and Doumeki are going to be the next Touya and Shindou, they're already on that wonderful subtexty route ~

Date: 2006-02-11 08:50 am (UTC)Indeed, I certainly hope TRC/Holic are finished so they can go finish X, and Clover and Gohou Drug -- I wonder how far they are in the series, halfway? Bother are getting into the 100's now, so it's an interesting thought. (though, they're just starting to reveal plot points now, like Syaoran pointing out that the same people who attacked Kurogane's home as a child attacked his homeland before they left.)

Date: 2006-02-11 08:45 am (UTC)No, actually it's Soubi. He's been dead for a very long time and no one noticed. Or possibly Watari came to investigate Seimei's "death"
