fic related notes: Character bio
Jul. 4th, 2015 08:53 pmA character sheet for Something New
Alice Colleen Dempsey.
Looks: Dark, thick hair. Skinny, boyish frame for most of her life. Grey eyes. Has a lot of Scout's facial structure. From (Something New) There's art done of her inside the author's note.
Note that this is all later in the timeline. After the events of the next couple of chapters, there's going to be some reuniting. But in the story right now (which I'm in the middle of heavily revising. 12K and counting at the moment) she's very young.
While she shares a lot of traits with her father (like loudness and bluntness and love of runnning and sports) she lacks his flirtiness, and is actually pretty awkward in matters of love. She's also a lot less of a braggart than her father, though boy does she love to talk. She gets so excited about things that she has a hard time not interrupting people to talk more. When she talks with her dad, it sometimes resembles a verbal match of ping-pong as they each try and get a word in.
She's filled with boundless energy, and gained her father's ADD, so school is hard for her. She's very fidgety and constantly toys with things like her hair, or jiggles her legs while sitting.
She's very protective of her friends and family and won't hesitiate to smack someone down for threatening them. From a pretty young age she's been around the mercenaries, who have taught her many things. Soldier and his kids helped make her suspicious of communists, Spy helped teach her lockpicking solely to troll Scout, and a few others taught her how to use weapons.
She really doesn't think before speaking, so she's often putting her foot in her mouth, or repeating something rude or unmentionable that the mercenaries said. She's also horrible at keeping secrets.
She adores her mother and father, though has a special bond with her father given their similar personalities and interests. Even as a teen, she never goes through the "my dad is so uncool, I hate my parents" phase, and still thinks he's the coolest. Scout is endlessly pleased by the fact that his daughter is so much like him.
Even when she becomes an adult, she's still really close to her family and stays close by. She's a big animal lover, and hates it in movies whenever the parents or animals die. She's still scarred by the time she watched Bambi.
She's very driven to win and competitve, and gets very upset when she loses, or when her sports teams lose.
She's very close with Delia Rose, Engineer's youngest daughter, despite all their differences. She also spends a lot of time with Soldier/Zhanna's children, and Demo/Yana's kid(s). She's very outgoing, gregarious and somewhat dense to reading the situation when she's annoying someone, but she's a lot nicer than Scout was in his heydey. However, Alice can be thoughtless or unintuitive and not realize that someone could take her remarks the wrong way. Also that she genuinely likes sparring with people both verbally and actually, and growing up with mercenaries who were constantly showing forms of affection by being sarcastic with each other, she doesn't see this as a mean thing.
She can be sarcastic, but it's more pointed at things that she finds stupid than people, especially people she's close/loyal to.
She has very little sense of personal space and doesn't do well with people who need space and time, or who are very closed off, as she sees that as a challenge to get them to smile. She also has a hard time actually telling her her friends are, because she's so gregarious and will go up and start talking to anyone, and consider them her best buddies, even after a short amount of time.
When she gets too angry, she usually runs it off or hits some balls. Heavy also taught her how to do some ridimentary boxing.
But when she loves someone, she closes up and doesn't know how to react, and becomes shy. She's more likely to hide and feel awkward and avoid them because she can't get her feelings out. This usually cumulates in long runs or trips to the punching bag because she's frustrated that she'd choke.
It'd be a spoiler to list most of the second gen kids and settings, but I can say that Pyro lives with Engineer and a ton of dogs (Non-romantic and nonsexual). Heavy/Medic will eventually be a thing with no children, but lots and lots of birds.
Engineer is married to someone who was hinted in an update, but is not technically a canon character in the universe. Soldier is married to Zhanna, and Demoman eventually ends up with Yana.
Sniper isn't interested in romance.
