August 10: Way of difference - TezuFuji - Polarity

[ My inner TezuFuji fangirl was feeling unloved]

In a science demonstration, they are given magnets, and shown the electro-magnetic fields be irresistibly drawn to each other, then with just a slight turn, pushed away.

Fuji’s mind can’t help but jump to conclusions, as he places them near, watching the undeniable attraction, watches them crash into each other with finite ease. Presses them apart, spreads the distance, and watches them slowly move closer together.

One turn, consider it a bad day, a dislike of intimacy in it’s truest state, and these magnets turn and repulse each other. Another turn, a good day, one where his feelings aren’t so transparent, when his center of gravity is balanced, it is as if the other times could be atoned for.

Two magnets, even from so far away, they call to each other in their own silent tongue.

Tezuka is the foundation of Seigaku, without him it would fall to pieces.

Fights would start, the whole tennis club would be unglued and unstable, for Tezuka is their stability, their leader, their structure, their buchou

But when that foundation is taken away, the overall morale and stability is unaffected.
Oishi is worried, and perhaps overwhelmed, but he survives without serious emotional turmoil or anxiety as he takes on the role of buchou with an unsteady yet determined hand.

Fuji wonders why he’s the only one breaking inside.

Because he was challenged, because he could not live in a denial forever, because regret can only go so far, Fuji achieves.

It is with faltering steps and finding strength even he didn’t know about.

Little baby steps, little by little, he learns. Little by little, he lives.

It takes releasing those childish fears, finding inner shadows so deep and consuming, it takes rebuilding and fulfilling. Pressing himself to limits and brushing aside, the feeling is warm, burning and he thinks that maybe this is it, maybe I have found what I was lead to.

But Fuji never let go for a moment.

It is only a 30 days later, (though Fuji swears it felt more like 30 years) when Tezuka returns.
Without pomp or exaltation, he slips back into the cracks of Seigaku,
Like a ghost that never left, Tezuka’s presence fills the room with a sense of purpose.

It is enough for Fuji to just be in the same room, the same place as Tezuka. To listen to his voice, to watch each subtle movement, each breath, in, out. It is enough, to Fuji.

Their conversations are simple, no one would have guessed the feeling behind it. Fuji prefers it this way. This part of Tezuka is his and his alone.

“It’s been a while, Tezuka” I missed you horribly.

“Aa. It has.” as did I

Two people, even from so far away, they call to each other in their own silent tongue.
