August 12: Man or astroman - Tenipuri - Tezuka/Oishi - Grasp
[Dude, I think I stretched this theme to the limit o_O I’m glad the lovely moderatoress doesn’t have killing rights.
Yes, TezuOishi. I this is Emily’s fault too, as we were just discussing it the other day. Looks like I got corrupted into another pairing. ;; Oh well. It’s not a bad thing, it’s fun to fangirl with her.
Remember~ Eggs and Toast are part of a balanced breakfast 8D! ]

Nice guys finish last, they say. Oishi knows this axiom all too well.
It’s because they were carrying the weight of all those who couldn’t bear them,
a shoulder to cry on, a shoulder to lean on, an arm to cradle and pick up fallen comrades.
They give until there is nothing left to give.
–
They made a promise as freshman, we will never give up, no matter what the odds. We will succeed.
It was made on dreams of twelve-year olds, with glory and honor, they would succeed.
They would become unstoppable, and Seigaku would regain it’s glory. No matter what cost.
Oishi never knew just how far that promise would go.
–
It is yours. Take care of them.
Oishi swallows, and looks around the empty room. It is as if an unbearable weight has been placed on his shoulders, carrying something like this alone, it is not surprising that Tezuka would be crushed.
Was it truly surprising that Tezuka’s shoulder gave out, when he was carrying the weight of the world on them?
It is just like Tezuka, horribly stubborn, suffering in silence all the while.
“..Why did you choose to carry it alone, Tezuka?”
There is only silence. Tezuka has been gone for days.
–
Eiji later remarks that Oishi is harsher than Tezuka could’ve ever dreamed of being. Oishi smiles, laughing along.
Eiji laughs that Tezuka is the father of Seigaku
“Then what am I?” Oishi asks with amusement.
“The mother, of course.”
–
The bridge where they once stood under a golden-hued sunset fades into view, all their dreams, their wishes, the promises they made years ago press his mind like steel vices.
Life found it’s way through, but perhaps this is what was meant to be.
Oishi waits, the dark soon comes. The sunset disappears from view.
Perhaps the dreams are gone, Oishi thinks. But we can make new ones.
–
With one arm, held out, he holds up Seigaku, carrying the burdens which were once held by Tezuka in an iron grasp. For now he knows, and he waits for the return - surely, eventually it must come. And when it does, he resolves to change this outcome.
I will not let you carry this alone
–
Nice guys finish last. They aren’t glorious, they aren’t the exalted winners. They are the ones who sacrifice themselves for the greater cause. They are the ones with true honor.
And they are not alone. They are never alone.
–
[Tezuka’s character is modeled in the sense of the traditional Japanese father, Oishi is referred to as the “Mother of Seigaku”. You can guess what my mind put together. And it's a bit messy due to lack of time. If you've got any suggestions, poke me.]
