Actually, there is something called light pollution. Maybe it's better seen in the country -- it's this orange glow that hangs on the horizon as a sort of aftereffect from all those lights being on all the time.

I just realized it'd fit perfectly with the It's Fateverse Ike/Soren prequel I had going on (Soren was a cranky librarian and Ike was a carpenter who came to fix up the place and shelves and stuff. Eventual library floor rezdenvous ensues!) Since Soren was a librarian here and I didn't want to change that because his dry tone amused me I just ran with it. You said you envisioned it going on differently anyways, with them meeting over books by chance or something and I can totally do that :D :D :D
