Speaking of Twilight, I was poking around Goodreads and ran into a blog and
a review of Twilight. There's already been the accusation that Bella/Edward = abusive relationship, but I think this one did it more convincingly simply because she put the book against a litmus test for abusive signs in relationships and it...did not do so well. Ahem.
Otherwise, Ship_Manifesto is doing a free month from May-June.
Well, there's my excuse to do an Ike/Soren ship manifesto. What else, though? Anyone else up for epic writing shenanigans?
It Gets Better has a new program going.
With your help, last week we shipped over 600 copies of It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living to libraries and schools. Thanks to your generous donations, LGBTQ youth will have access to a book that can truly show them that life does get better, as well as the tools to get through the most difficult times. But we’re not done yet. You can help us reach our goal of 1,000.
Make a $25 donation and we’ll send a copy of It Gets Better to a school or library of your choice.
I thought about doing a drive to raise it, but 25$ is a way steeper price than 2.99. I'm thinking of sending one to my library, but the head ] librarian is ruthless when it comes to books so if they aren't checked out as many times as Twilight, they're often resold, and I wouldn't want my donation to go for naught.
It's tempting, though.
