Title: two
Day/Theme: August 22nd: / Sword tells more truth than books; its parting wisdom from vanity.
Series: Yami no Matsuei
Character/Pairing: Hisoka, Tsuzuki
Rating: at least in the PG-13 region
Tsuzuki never learns, he always must fall. He seems unable to learn from even the most simple mistakes, he can’t learn from others, no, these stumbles always are his own.
It seems his whole life was one big domino fall, mistake lead to mistake until it was nothing but a string of failures.
“Will you read to me?” Tsuzuki says, one day when the whole weight of the world seemed laid over his shoulders.
“Only if it’ll make you be quiet” Hisoka absently replies.
Tsuzuki stays close and listens, like some errant child. It’s comforting, the steady sound of Hisoka’s voice, emotionless even in this pinnacle parts, the parts made to evoke tears or laughter, but Hisoka is unaffected, steady and strong – his guide through stormy waters and most of all he stays.
Tsuzuki drifts off, his head learning against Hisoka’s knees. And Hisoka closes the book, murmuring what a child but his voice is not unkind.
Tomorrow he will inform Tsuzuki that he snores horribly but for now Hisoka lets him be, resting against his lap, peacefully sleeping without a care in the world, like for once, he believes that tomorrow will be welcome. A new day.
