[Part one]
August 21st - Who would take us to be women? - TRC - Effervescent. - Kurogane/Fai
The sake hit the roof of his mouth, burning, aching. He swallowed it in one gulp. His arms still throbbed slightly from fighting the kiji, but surely the idiot’s leg would hurt worse.
He vaguely noticed that Fai was no longer beside him, no longer leaning in and blabbering with the female bartender in a way which vaguely resembled flirting.
Then Fai slipped closer, their arms almost brushed on the thick mahogany counter, the tips of Fai’s slim fingers spread over the side, contrasting on the rich wood.
I want happiness... Oruha’s words lifted like birds in flight, haunting and filling the crowded bar with strains of longing, of wishing, of cloudless days that somehow never came, of
love unreturned, of a hope that remained, still beating its wings furtively.
The words Fai had said still lingered, a burning aftertaste. He took another drink of sake, burn them away, he thought. Burn them out of my mind.
“I’ve been waiting for someone who would stay by my side”
Funny thing, those same thoughts never vocalized, but always on his closed lips. Those unvoiced things he never could quite put into words.

[part two]
Kurogane thought that he should have learned by now, last time the idiot got ahold of alcoholic beverages he ran around mewling like a cat, being only slightly annoying until he actually pounced on Kurogane and did things not fit to be repeated near younger children.
Kurogane still can’t quite remember how it began - he’d drunk many glasses of sake himself, but his mind was still relatively clear. What he remembered was a few hushed whispers around him. The Silence, the lights fading, then...
He had to blink to try and focus, was that the piano player say something about their singer being sick and a substitute replacing them?
Low and behold, out came the idiot, dressed in a revealing dress which looked actually good on his lanky body, he was just effeminate enough to pull it off well.
He belted out several songs, his voice was surprisingly good, for a drunk idiot wearing a dress entirely too clingy, filmy and – Kurogane wondered why the room suddenly seemed so hot and his pants so uncomfortably tight.
When it ended, there was a good amount of applause and whistles of appreciation.
“Thank you, thank you. I owe it all to Kuro-chan, my wonderful lesbian lover.”
Suddenly feeling a hell of a lot more sober, he responded in the only sensible way.
“WHAT?!”
--
Postscript:
“I am NEVER letting you near alcohol again.
“Nee, Kuro-chaaaan. You’re meean.”
“And you’re an idiot.”
“ Does that mean you won’t be my lesbian lover?”
“YOU!”

Date: 2005-10-04 02:58 am (UTC)I enjoyed your portrayal of Kurogane. He's smart enough to know his own feelings, but stubborn enough to try to avoid them.
Second part: crack. ^^
