Title: Suddenly
Series: Ace Attorney
Character/pairing: Nahyuta/Ema
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 880
Author's note: Tell me about Nahyuta and Ema's kiss. BONUS: throw in some angst. BONUS (x2): thrown in some smut.
Over her break, Ema went into every detail about the latest data test about the new equipment he'd personally gotten her. Little did she know that when he'd said that, he would make it a prophecy, because Ema had the best tech delivered to her constantly.
(And yes, he'd meant the Divination Seance. Which Ema was making some scientific inquiries into as well.)
The room was faintly chilly, and a fire was stocked high in the nearby fireplace. Designs were burned into the wood dividers between the layers of stone. She and Prosecutor Sahdmadhi sat close on opposing stiff, wood-backed benches, and she leaned in towards him. Because it was cold. Because the hum of people talking in the outside corridor might drown her out.
Because she wanted to be this close to him, as much as she could.
She basked in the reflected light of the fireplace, reflected off his golden edges. The earrings, the brocade of his frock coat, the bracelets and armlets. Funny enough, she'd hated it when Prosecutor Gavin's bling got in her way, but Prosecutor Sahdmadhi's never bothered her.
Even though he was unbearably busy with all the new duties of his station, Prosecutor Sahdmadhi always made time to listen to her. Be it grievances (mostly pointed at Prosecutor Payne) her daily reports, or just idle chatter.
He always made time for her, and she appreciated that. She appreciated his gentle smile, his soft voice, and how he always thought to bring snacks when they met.
(She'd finished them down long before she got through this story.)
"So, that's how it works! Already it looks like I'll be able to bring up results a whole lot faster...."
Prosecutor Sahdmadhi didn't say anything. Instead, his intense gaze was focused on a single part of her. "What? You keep staring at my mouth. Did I miss some crumbs?" Ema brushed at the sides of her mouth, yet felt no aftermath of her snack binges.
"No...it is...."
He lifted up her chin. She shivered in pleasure at his touch. Was he going to....?
Suddenly, his lips were against hers. She rested her palm against his chest like she'd wanted to so many times, and eagerly kissed him back. She let out a soft moan against him, and shifted even closer. Holy crap, was this really happening? She'd just been talking about her latest forensic tech and suddenly, he'd kissed her.
Just like she'd always wanted him to.
The immediacy of the moment was breathtaking. The warmth of the contact, the intense sensation and heat of his mouth against hers left her desperate for more. She slipped her hand deeper, against the deep maroon turtleneck beneath his gilded frockcoat.
Her lips parted slightly, and she moaned against as she felt his tongue brush against hers. Oh yes. It'd gotten even steamier, somehow. He was pretty bold, when it came to kissing. A whole lot more than expected.
Not that she'd spent all of her free time thinking about how he would kiss. Okay, not all of it...
Suddenly, he drew back. Not exactly the reaction she had been expecting. There was deep pain in his brilliant green eyes. "M-My apologies. I...had intended to tell you. I promised myself I would do it today. And the way you smiled... it felt so magnetic in that moment. I hadn't even meant to, but-- No, it is no excuse. I should have asked first before ever touching you."
"I'm not sorry. I'd do it again if I had the choice. Honestly...I've been wanting you to do this for a long, long time."
"Then I am gladdened by that, but my conduct was still quite...rude. Perhaps even worse than rude, considering..."
She cut him off. "I'm happy about it, really happy, in fact. But if you want to keep going on about this, let's put it this way. I'll forgive you, on one condition: you kiss me again."
"I can think of no happier fate," he said softly.
She smiled as she came closer. "Tell me the truth. Were you just trying to kiss me to shut me up about all that science?"
"No...I love the way your eyes light up when you enthuse about forensics. I could listen for hours, even if I do not fully understand it as well as you do. If anything...even more than this, I find it comforting to have someone as knowledgeable as you by my side."
Warmth filled her at his smile, at the way he always spoke so well of her, even when she was mean and sassy, and at how he drew closer and closer to her, until there were no spaces between them.
She cupped his face, and eagerly met his lips again. While he might have wanted her to keep her talking, Ema thought this could have potential. Whenever he annoyed her, she could just kiss him.
And kiss him when she was happy, kiss him when she was mad, kiss him in the middle of court and outside, kiss him goodnight and...
The possibilities between them were endless.
